E-commerce is one of the latest, most trending business models to hit the internet. Millions of people across the world are on the hype-train, building everything from generalized to highly specialized stores. When launching an e-commerce business, the most important things to keep in mind is the content of the e-store and its security. Customers will feel more at ease when shopping at an online store that is secure and fast to load.

Background

Our client had an Amazon business. He wanted to create a web presence to showcase his business and attract new customers. He didn’t want much at the time. Just a simple website that can direct users to his Amazon product page with product links or buttons. The customer was very tech-savvy and already had a pretty good idea of what they wanted. In fact, the customer was very cooperative from start to finish. With the brief over with, we started forming a plan.

Assessment and Implementation

At first, we wanted to go with WooCommerce, rather than generic WordPress. The customer specified that they didn’t want a store, but just a website to promote it. However, after several discussions, we decided to go with WooCommerce, understanding that a lot of the features wouldn’t be suitable for the project. In the end, we decided to go with WooCommerce, but disable all of the unnecessary features. We kept in mind that our client may want to scale in the future, if he changed his mind. This would make a lot of the work easier in the long run.

The customer wanted to give his customers a way to submit feedback. They wanted to collect product and customer satisfaction information through surveys. For this, we used Caldera, a forms WordPress plugin to create this. In addition to this, we took care of the on-page SEO for the website.

After the project was completed, the client was satisfied. However, some time again, the customer contacted us once again. He said that he wanted his store to process orders. The decision we made earlier was rather useful. All we needed to do was to enable the features we disabled earlier on.

In addition to this, we also implemented PayPal as the primary payment gateway. To help our client handle the shipments automatically, we used Ship Station, after the client requested it.
